First Visit

New Patient Paperwork

Upon entering the office, we have some entry forms to fill out. This paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition. You can also obtain new patient forms on the website and fill them out at home ahead of time to speed up the process.

Consultation and History

Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with Dr. Kam to discuss your health-related problems and concerns. He will ask you how the condition developed, how severe it is and what you found to make the condition better or worsens the condition.

Chiropractic Examination

Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.
A visual inspection is made of the involved area. An orthopedic evaluation is conducted, involving moving the body part and performing certain orthopedic tests. Dr. Kam will check for abnormal sensation or sensitivity by palpating the area. Your structure (skeletal system) will be checked for misalignments or subluxations.

Diagnostic Studies (If needed)

If your condition requires x-rays, MRI, CT or other diagnostic studies, you will be referred to an outside lab or hospital. This is done to either properly diagnose your conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you.

Same Day Treatment

After your initial consultation and evaluation, Dr. Kam usually initiates care. Your first Chiropractic treatment may include spinal adjustments, physiotherapy and/or soft tissue therapies.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, patients are given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted or avoided at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, specific home exercises and/or stretches.

Follow up care

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.
